Synopsis

Being creative, telling stories and bringing them to life through vivid images — can a machine master these skills? The ILLUMULUS is an anonymous author that uses generative neural networks to create individual stories and images by interacting with visitors. One-of-a-kind »books« are created for visitors to take with them. The ILLUMULUS is a interactive performance that aims at making AI’s impressive capabilities tangible for everyone.

The idea for ILLUMULUS was inspired by the ILLUMATEN. It originated during an illustration project carried out at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in 2007 under the leadership of illustrator Jutta Bauer.
